Friends of MCRPD was incorporated as a public non-profit in 1989.  Steve Tiger was the President and brought the organization into public non-profit 501c3 standing.  One of the original members, Susan Larkin, is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the organization.  The organization offered the MCRPD District an oppurtunity to raise funds to build the C.V. Starr Community Center under non-profit status. The new facililty was built in 2009 and Friends of MCRPD continued to raise funds indicative to our mission statement.  Friends of MCRPD is a charitable, non profit organization whose mission is to encourage appreciation and support of public recreation facilities within the Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District, and to give assistance and support to recreational, horticultural and cultural leisure-time programs and activities of an educational character.
